Laureate Eta Nu began the 2010 sorority year (and year no. 16) with two fantastic new sisters, Gisele Medina and Kerry Bost. Our program theme this year was Passport to A Fantasy Adventure. At our meetings, we have attended a fantasy wedding in Tahiti, we feasted on fondue in Switzerland, we took belly dancing lessons in Algeria, we hiked the outback of Patagonia and Australia and sampled their wines, we fished in the Amazon of Brazil, we shopped in Italy, India and Thailand and we discovered a pot of gold and some Baileys Irish Crème in Ireland. We also took an unscheduled side journey to New Orleans and cheered, laughed and cried as our President, Kathy Gabbart presented chocolates and announced her real, not fantasy, Mardi Gras marriage proposal from her fiancé Brett. Our last to be published paper yearbook was awarded 2nd place at HCC. We launched our new website www.houstonsisters.org to serve as our online paperless yearbook in the future. We celebrated Kerry Bost as she honored our chapter with her election to the HCC Royal Court as Sweetheart. We applauded as Vickie Bushke took over the helm as HCC President Elect. We welcomed Kerry’s daughters’ Ellen and Emily Bost as new legacies. All in all it was a fun-filled year and a reaffirmation of our love for each other, and the importance of Beta Sigma Phi in our lives.
